15th July '08 - Debt Management Plan Advice in Soham Just Got Poorer
Citizens living in Soham, East Cambridgeshire, needing debt management plan advice received some bad news this week when it was announced that Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) is to close its office in the area.
As a result, those living in Soham who wish to meet face-to-face with a CAB debt management plan advisor will have to travel to Ely, where the CAB has its main East Cambridgeshire branch.
The close comes as a result of a meeting last year in which the county council decided to withdraw all funding for the Soham branch.
County councillor Judy Broadway commented, “The funding cuts from last year are only just being felt - I think it's a great shame.”
The soon to be closed Soham CAB branch was seen by many in the area as a vital community resource, offering debt management plan advice, tax credit advice, housing advice and other services to some 7,000 people in the last year alone.
